Behind the Wheel-Lori Eden-July
State Mandates & Completion
Per Minnesota State Law, students must complete six hours of formal Behind-the-Wheel (BTW) instruction to qualify for their Class D driver’s license road test.
- Session Structure: These six hours are typically completed over three to four sessions.
- Certification: Upon successful completion of the full six hours, students will receive an eCard Certificate of Completion via email.
Scheduling Rules & Restrictions
To ensure student safety and proper skill development, the following scheduling policies are enforced:
- Instructor Consistency: Students must register with the same BTW Instructor for all sessions. If a student registers with a different instructor, the appointment will be removed from the schedule
- Frequency Limit: To allow for adequate practice and progression, students may not schedule more than one session every three weeks. Multiple appointments scheduled within the same month will be canceled.
- Permit Requirement: Students must have a valid learner’s permit in their possession for every session.
Meeting Locations
- School Year: All sessions begin at the front entrance of STMA High School.
- Summer Sessions: All sessions meet at the front entrance of Middle School West.
